I use a cream hair remover from Avon that is designed to be gentle on the face and has a special applicator for tight areas. You apply the cream, leave it on for 8-10 minutes and wipe away with a terrycloth wash cloth. After treatment, I wipe the area with witch hazel to close the pores. First, the follicles do not get thicker by shaving; they get thicker by hormones, drugs, chemicals, etc. A persons genetics also determine the thickness of hair, which would explain why certain cultures have thinner or less hair than others.

Back to shaving:

The follicles are too far beneath the surface to be affected by shaving. The proliferative zone (hair matrix) that forms hair is at the very bottom of the hair bulb within the hair follicle. You would have to practically do a skin graft on your face in order to get down to that level -- and doing that is still not going to make hair grow in thicker; it'll have the opposite effect.

There are three stages of the hair growth cycle:

Anagen

Catagen

Telogen

The anagen stage can last for years. A person who never shaves would have a full adolescent beard well into their 20's and possibly 30's. Then the catagen %26amp; telogen phase serve to basically kill and remove the old hair. If they were to shave before that point, their beard WOULD grow in thicker. It's not the result of shaving, but because they got rid of their adolescent beard and are now allowing their matured hair follicles to finally grow mature hair.

Hi, I have very course whiskers on my chin, and have tried foams, bleach and waxing without success. I cannot afford laser treatment or electrolosys. I don't see very well so I have been reduced to plucking with tweezers by brail. If I use a shaver to shave my chin then the whole place looks like a field of blackheads. And it grows back out as fast as a five O'clock shadow! I found out four months ago tha I was no longer producing Progesterone, and now that I take it in a dermal cream, I've noticed the whiskers are fewer and softer. Just food for thought. In the mean time, tweezing by brail will have to suffice.

* Chemical depilatories strong enough to remove the hair are very likely to burn the skin, cause swelling and cause long-term discoloration of the skin.

* Laser is also liable to cause burning and discoloration and in any case only works effectively on a dark hair/light skin combinantion.

* Electrolysis is very liable to cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Which, like it or not, leaves shaving which does not damage the skin. Best done with a men's-style electric razor, the best of which, for women, are probably those from the men's range of Norelco razors (Philishave outside the US). Most women who try a men's Norelco wonder why nobody ever told them about it before.

Sorry, no. It will only make you sweat, breakout and make your facial hair look nasty. Instead use a blowdryer on cool for a little volume. Also, skin bracers and after shave are a great choice because they tighten the pores, which in turn makes the facial hair appear fuller.

Never use foam shaving cream. Always use gel, it's much smoother and it keeps you from getting cut as often. Plus, if you want to shave and look clean but not have a perfectly clean cut look and you want to keep a little scruff, just shave with an electric razor, it'll leave just a tiny bit of hair which the chicks dig I think.

Unless you want to be bearded I suggest moving slowly away from the razor now. There is Nair for the face and also there are cream bleaches to lighten the hair. You can wax it and it will become finer overtime. Cold waxes work fine on facial skin.

i would not suggest using Nair on your face or even the razor cause it will make the hair grow thicker and faster. you can go to your local beauty supply store (sally's) and checkout some forms of hair removal creams that can be used on your face. most of these hair removal creams can slow the growth of hair and make it less noticeable

use the nair get the one that says 3 in one nair, it is saposed to be for the face i used it for the face. or get one that has aloe in it it will condition your skin when you use it. but eventualy your going to just want to use a razor its easier, but you will get stubble to. even when you use the nair products or other ones it can come back stubly. i found out it is a condition called hirsutism meaning excessive growth of facial hair and sometimes body hiar too. it indicates that there is a testosterone(the dominant make hormone) and progesterone. progesterone acts as a regulator for the entire enocrine system. matural progesterone is neededto effect proper hormonal balance. so basicaly it all means you have to much of the males testosterone and so your body is unballanced. you can see your doctor about it, and they might be able to hook you up with something that can ballance your hormones out and it might stop it all together from growing. i am doing the same thing right now i have facial hair and i hate it. good luck, if you want to know more then just type in hirsutism in the box and hit enter and see what sites it gives you. good luck.
