Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

If ever there was a subject on which confusion reigns, it's hair removal methods!

The answer in this case is that sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. If you wax very fine hair and your hormones are in the normal female range, then it may come back weaker each time and eventually disappear. But if you wax coarse hair and you have high levels of testosterone the hair may come back stronger. And if you're somewhere in between, the results are unpredictable.

Just for the record, when it comes to dealing with facial hair, the following is a summary of the options available, as I see them:

If you haven't got too much of it, do you really need to do anything? Most guys are OK about women with, for example, a slight moustache.

If you do decide you have to do something, then there isn't a simple answer.

Facial (and also body) hair on women comes about in the same way as on men because of

1) your body being sensitized, before you were even born, to testosterone -- doesn't happen to all girls, but does to many

2) your body producing high levels of testosterone

The growth rate and coarseness of the hair depends on just how much testosterone is circulating in your bloodstream.

Steer clear of bleaching -- when someone sees you against the light you'll look as if you have a glowing moustache and/or beard.

As far as removing it is concerned it's worth remembering that

* Waxing, plucking, threading, epilating all pull the hair out by the roots and where the growth is hormonally-driven can actually stimulate a dormant follicle into producing more hair quicker. They also distort the root if done repeatedly, leading to hair growing at strange angles. And you've got to let the hair grow to quite a length before you can repeat the exercise. It can also damage the skin and discolor it. Long-term use of waxing also causes bad wrinkles.

* Chemical depilatories strong enough to remove the hair are very likely to burn the skin, cause swelling and cause long-term discoloration of the skin.

* Laser is also liable to cause burning and discoloration and in any case only works effectively on a dark hair/light skin combinantion.

* Electrolysis is very liable to cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Which, like it or not, leaves shaving which does not damage the skin. Best done with a men's-style electric razor, the best of which, for women, are probably those from the men's range of Norelco razors (Philishave outside the US). Most women who try a men's Norelco wonder why nobody ever told them about it before.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... that is a myth EVEN IF YOU SHAVE it will NOT grow back thicker!

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

in most cases, it will damage the hair follicles and stop it from growing.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

no it will make hair grow finner

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

yes, but thats why you continue to do it. If you do it for a year straight, the hair will hardly come back so that a bonus!

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

yes absolutely. it is because you are basically cutting or pulling the hair from the root, so it comes back thicker and stronger to repair the damage.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

I know everybody says it's a myth, but I'm beginning to think they've been misinformed.

I've done the hair buffer for my face and my hairs grew back darker and are much more noticeable. . .

Perhaps it's just psychological and the fact I'm paying more attention, maybe it's not.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

I thought so at first, but after waxing my facial hair it appeared thinner as it grew out.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

Actually NO. It should do the contrary. Every time you wax, the hair itself becomes finer and easier to remove. The hair itself is less coarse although it will not cause less hair to grow back. The finer hair is less noticeable and easier to remove as well as less painful. Get your waxing done 4-6 weeks apart to desensitize it.

Will waxing your facial hair make it grow thicker?

NONONONONONO!!! plucking and tweezing will make hair thicker because the roots are not fully pulled. My hairstylist told me this. She said that waxing will make hair grow slower therefore some hair might not grow back because the pores are closed and no roots for hair. so DO wax instead of tweezing or plucking or tweezing or whatever it is DON'T do it. Just WAX.
